Making Love that Lasts|Dealing with Overwhelm

Hello my dear ones

What do you do when Overwhelm looms on your horizon?

In the 3rd episode of our Making Love that Lasts Series we talk about how to deal with overwhelm.

This could be in your business, your personal life or any other area that can get you frazzled.

You know the feeling, you want and need to get things done, perhaps you have even planned out how and when to get it all done.

And BAM!!! Overwhelm hits up upside your head.  Plans goes awry, others get into the mix, perhaps people “steal” your time (more on that one in later posts, this is a HUGE topic!) or maybe you wake up in a funk and just can’t get going on your list.

First-BREATHE.  I know it sounds too easy, almost trite right?  But amazing things happen when we sit and consciously breathe, more oxygen to the blood and brain, calming to the nervous system.

Next-TAKE TIME FOR YOU…yes I said it. Sometimes you just have to walk away from the to do list and get a different perspective.  It’s like being in the middle of the woods and not being able to see all the trees, the minute you walk out of the woods you can see the bigger picture.

In the Piscean age we were conditioned to push through, those that do are made of steel and succeed.  But we are entering the Age of Aquarius, where experience, not information, is Queen.

And if we allow our bodies to be overtaken by overwhelm we do not leave space to allow the creativity to flow.

It all comes down to putting on YOUR oxygen mask FIRST before helping someone else.

I know we are conditioned to feel guilty for taking “me time,” yet when we don’t we are showing up as our “not so nice” selves and that does not serve anyone.

We truly believe you should feel guilty for NOT taking “me time,” after all that is when you are at your shiniest and brightest self, you were born to shine and you cannot do this if you are not taking of YOU.

So, what do you do when overwhelm smacks you upside your head?  Do you get buried in all that you need to do without taking care of yourself?  Or do you take a breather, change the scenery and come back to the list refreshed?

We would LOVE you to share your comments below and of course please feel free to send this video to your friends that may be in Overwhelm Overload.

Thank you for watching, we look forward to hearing your experiences.

Live, Love and Be Loved

Making Love Last, Episode 2, Time to “Ditch” the Other Half Syndrome…

Continuing with last week’s theme, today’s video is all about the “Other Half Syndrome.”

So many of us are wandering round the planet looking for love.  After all love is the warm blanket that keeps us warm on dark, cold nights.  There is nothing wrong, in fact there is everything right, about wanting love in our lives.

The challenge comes in the WAY we seek it.  We look for it, rather than feel it.

Perhaps you have been called someone’s other half, or maybe you are looking for your other half.

NEWSFLASH:  You are WHOLE, no-one but you can complete you.

But I don’t feel whole, I hear you say.

I understand, we are not raised in society to feel whole and perfect the way we are, but once we realize that we are, life changes.

However, if we keep doing the same thing we will keep getting the same result.

So why not try something different?  Instead of looking for someone to complete you , look within and see that you are complete.

Remember, two halves make a whole, two wholes make a pair.

Quit running around as a half looking for their other half, become a whole and find another whole.

So tell me, are you a half looking for a whole, or a half working on making YOUrself whole, or are you whole?  I would love to know.

Live. Love. Be Loved.

Making Love that Lasts|It All Begins With You

Whoo hoo this is the first in a new series (yes we have a couple of series running, we are excited about sharing them).  This series is our Ode to Love.

No matter what we do in life we are all wired to love and be loved.  Love is the greatest equalizer other than death, in love we all feel joy and hurt, no matter what our training and or social status.

In today’s video I share how the journey to love begins within.  How can another love us if we don’t first love ourself?

And then when it comes to love we must love unconditionally, without attachment to a particular outcome.  It is amazing the shifts that can start to happen when we make this subtle shift.

How have you been showing up to love?  Are you receiving the love flowing into your life like a long lost friend whom you could not be happier to see, or as a disgruntled teenager who blames the world for his acne, or even a person so desperate no-one wants to be in the same area as you let alone hang out?

Check out the video where I share 2 lessons and 2 tips for Making Love that Lasts…

ACTION TIP:  It’s great to know all this but what does it mean and what can YOU do today to start loving yourself better (in more ways than one btw!).

It all starts with E.O.S.C|ExtraOrdinary Self Care.  This weekend do something dedicated to YOU.  That may be a walk in the park, a muse around a bookstore or gallery, massage/mani/pedi, or a long bath with lots of bubbles, essential oils and candles…

One thing, do one thing this weekend for you own personal E.O.S.C Program because you deserve to be loved and you deserve to be loved by YOU, and when we love someone, we take care of them, so start taking care of you.

Every inch and every crevice of you is what makes you unique, start being kind to yourself from the inside out. Become a beacon of love and acceptance to yourself and watch the world mirror you back.

I am so passionate about you feeling the love you deserve, and would love for you to join us at https://www.facebook.com/groups/makingwavesoflove/

We are starting a dialogue there about love and will be having interviews and specials all to create more love and more understanding of love in the world.

Shouting out to all the LOVERS in the world, do you hear me?

Thank you so much for watching and reading, do share with your friend if you know he or she is lost in love, and do let us know where you are in love?  What does love mean to you?

Live. Love. Be Loved.

In memory of my dad, I love you so very much, I see your eyes as the blue sky and your breath as the wind and I dedicate each day to live, love and serve.

What Will Your Eulogy Say?

This was a tough video to make, and yes those are tears streaming down my face. let me catch you up on events since I last saw you.

It is a week since my return from the UK.  I have not been back in 10 years (but that I thought it was 6 or 7, time will pass when we are not paying attention!) and I returned for my father’s funeral.

Such a long trip to make under such sad and heavy news.

It was a trip pf such mixed and unexpected emotions; who knew losing a parent would feel like this?  Who knew that in my sorrow for my dad I would find an enormous amount of love and compassion for my mum?

Who knew that when something happens out of the box, unexpectedly and so hard to take in, that years of stories, resentments, disappointments and wishes for it to be different would vanish only to be replaced by updated stories viewed in a new light of compassion and understanding, the type that can only come from experience and time on the planet, along with an event such as my father’s death.

Just writing those words seems weird, “My father’s death.”  I am still trying to integrate what it all means in the grand scheme of things.

He has always been such a big figure in my life, even across the distance of years and continents.

10 years ago I faced my own mortality when I nearly died in the house fire, this time around I face it again only in the light of my mum walking her path alone now, her best friend and husband of 45 years no longer there when she comes home from feeding the horse or walking the dog.

It is the cruel paradox of being together for so long that ultimately one will be left without the other.  One day that will me me or Cemaaj, it will be you, or your partner or your child, friend, or parent…our one day will come.

And when it does the only thing that will matter are the people you leave behind and the lives you touched along the way.

Mum and dad lived and worked together for 45 years, retiring 15 years ago at the age of 48 and 55.  They really were best of friends and rarely even spent a night apart.  Listening to my brother read the eulogy took me back to my roots.

Values, principles and morals, all popular subjects in our upbringing and always manners, manners maketh man we were always told.

We don’t know when our light will go out, or that of the ones we love.

It’s not about how long we live but how we live in the time we have.  Living is not something to start tomorrow or when you lose 15lbs or when the kids have grown or the house is paid off or you retire, blah blah~life is for living NOW.

At the end of the day, or on our last breath, all that will matter is the way we treated the people and the planet around us.

And though ultimately someone else will write your eulogy they can only write then what you live, do and be NOW.

So let me ask you again, what will your eulogy say?  Have you ever given it some thought?

And if you want to really get into it why not sit down with a candle and some incense and write your eulogy?  You might be surprised at what you come up with and we would love to hear, so let us know down below.

Thank you for bearing with me on this one, life’s cycles playing full out.

In memory of my dad, I love you so very much, I see your eyes as the blue sky and your breath as the wind and I dedicate each day to live, love and serve.

Live, Love and be Loved

Sabotage-Are You Doing an Inside Job?

Hello SuperSTARZ

How is your week shaping up?  I hope you are making the most of every precious moment, the advent of the end of January can be tough so take time to take care of you, from the inside out.

Talking of the inside…

Are you doing an inside job of stopping yourself in your tracks?

Every thought, no matter how small, is heard by all your cells, this is how they take in the world outside, from how you think.

So what are you telling your cells?

How could it be different if you changed the dialogue…how would you project out into the different with this different vibration?

How much more could the world love you if only you loved yourself more?

I have had this experience in yoga recently…one day I forgot my top.

Erika offered me one of hers, my firsr reaction was relief, my second was silent horror as she proudly pulled out two of the smallest bra tops, pretty…and pretty small.

I took a deep breath chose the one I liked most and put it on.

For the next 90 minutes I looked at my belly…my internal chatter started, focusing on said belly…but this time it was different, than ever before…

“You’re not so bad,” “You are quite creamy and soft,” “I’m in the front yoga of yoga, holding the poses AND in a bra top”

I have worn a bra top since then and guess what, every time I look at myself in the mirror I tell myself good thoughts and it is working.

Sometimes we just have to change the chatter from the inside out.

Don’t be guilty of setting yourself up for an inside job, tell your cells something positive today.

Let me know below what your internal chatter sounds like?  Does it support you or tear you down?

Be Outrageous and Shine SuperSTAR, Shine!

It’s YOUR time!

Love

Ahhh Perfection, Is It Holding You Back?

Today we have Cemaaj on the video and he is talking about perfectionism.

In the video he shares his experience of being a perfectionist martial arts student and what he has learned from this to apply to business.

how we show up to anything is how we show up to everything, thus in striving for perfection in one area we probably do it in all areas.

But how does this stop us?

Check out what Cemaaj has to say in the video and let us know below what your experience of perfection is and if you have found a way to allow you to move forward in spite of imperfect action.

To YOUR outrageously imperfect life

Medicinal Yogi Tea Recipe

Continuing on our 2012 theme of ExtraOrdinary Self Care today I share my Yogi Tea recipe.  I was first introduced to Yogi Tea at the SF Kundalini Yoga Ashram, where they serve it after every class.  One of my favorite Kundalini Yoga traditions is sharing tea after a wonderful class and meditation.

Yogi Tea is also known as Chai.  A popular drink in India for not only it’s taste but also it’s medicinal qualities.  There are many ways to make chai, so play around with ingredients, this recipe will give you a great start.

The beauty of making your own chai is two fold…first you get to play with and accentuate the flavors and secondly, you get all the medicinal qualities without all the sugar and processing in store bought chais.

And did I mention it is much, much less expensive to make your own, and with a much lighter footprint?

I drained the first batch and put the spices back in with about 2/3 pan of water (minus the black tea bags).  I simmered for 45 minutes and added to the first batch.

Want to foam up your milk like a barista chai?  Heat your milk and place in a small coffee press (must be the small one, bodum is one brand).  Only fill 1/3 full and insert the press and pump up and down, watch your milk “grow” in volume and get so creamy you can stand a spoon in it…delicious!

You can also drink it cold over ice with milk.

What teas do you enjoy?  Could you start making your favorite blend at home?  Let me know down below!

You deserve ExtraOrdinary Self Care because my dear SuperSTAR there is no-one quite like you…

To your Outrageous Life

Hmmmmm…jealousy is one of those things that we don’t like to talk about, unless it’s to point out the green eyed monster in someone else.

But what if your jealousy is trying to tell you something?  What if it could be the motivation for something much bigger?

In the video I share how I recently felt a pang of jealousy and how it caused me to look a little deeper to see what it all meant.

Check out the video to see how to transform the “green eyed monster” into your “green eyed goddess” that can propel you forward.

So, have you felt a stab of jealousy recently?  How does that make you feel?  And now, if you take a step back and look at it differently what is it telling you?

I would love to know so let me know down below, and of course if you liked this video I would love for you to share the love with your friends, because we all deserve to live life on OUR terms.

Now go give that green eyed goddess in your life a big hug and resolve to walk a different path with her in the future, you will be amazed where she will take you.

and we have entered the other side of the holidaze…how was it for you?

seriously, how are you now that the holidaze and New Year have come and gone?

it can seem easy back in the dark corridors of October and November planning all the new stuff we can do in the “New Year” and then it comes and suddenly we are on the other side.

and if you are already getting yourself in a spin because you didn’t make resolutions or have already failed to keep the ones you made, STOP…

right now, stop it…take it from one who has been around this particular block a time or two (ok decades or more!), it is time to stop struggling against the flow, it is time to get INTO the flow.

the revolution is over, evolution is now, struggle is so Age of Pisces, as we enter the Age of Aquarius it is about tapping into our own unique psyche and choosing strategies that work with the way we are wired rather than one size fits all-which it doesn’t, so nobody wins.

so whatever has not worked in the past, it is time to let it go.  try something new, a different way, YOUR way…

what does YOUR way look like, I’d love to know so let me know down below…

and remember, new year is a new beginning but then so is every breath we take, between our breaths and the new year there are many ways to set yourself up for success

to life on YOUR terms

welcome back to the light.  happy solstice.

today is Work-Week Wednesday and we ask, “does your work fit YOU?”

it’s a question well worth asking.

i was thinking about this video in the shower before I sat down to load the post.  in my small steamy bathroom i decided that life is like a jacket.  and just like jackets, life comes in all shapes and sizes, a multitude of styles for myriad purposes.  and just like life, one jacket does NOT fit all.

have you ever felt like you were living someone else’s life?  i know i did for the longest time. in fact it was not until i was nearly 35 that i finally felt like i had at least thrown off the jacket that did not belong to me.

you see as we grow and evolve, others clothe us.  they choose the style and color and this determines who and how we grow into our present selves.  the challenge comes when the coat given to us does not fit, it is the wrong size, style or for the wrong season.

imagine a thin cotton jacket in the antartic.  or a sealskin jacket in bermuda.  torture in both cases.  now a sealskin jacket in the antartic and a thin cotton jacket in bermuda, this may be closer to the mark.

so my question to you today is whose jacket are you wearing?  does it feel like one that you have had forever or is it itching and just not right?

in our quest to create a life on our own terms casting off what does not work, even in lieu of a replacement, can be the first step we need to take to find the jacket that has been hanging in the closet waiting for us to hand in our coat check.

so, as we approach the end of this year, we invite you to look at your coat check ticket, after all life is so much better when we have the right jacket for the job.  we don’t have to wear fur in the dessert or cotton in the snow.

and if it is not your coat, throw away that stub and begin the journey to find your coat.

here’s to creating a life on YOUR terms

About

We are guaranteed 2 things when we are born, first that we will die and secondly, that we will do it in this body...YET these are two subjects least talked about...when you consider death it is about how you live and the legacy you leave, and your body, the temple that will get you everywhere you go, needs to be taken care of so the journey through life can be a smooth one. Are you living a "null and void" life or are you living a "Life On Purpose and With Passion?" We can relate, we have led the null and void life and now are creating a life that is on purpose and with passion. It can be a windy and at times, scary, road. We know that and more than once we have been bought to our knees wondering what the next step should be. Both Cemaaj and myself (Shivie) have done the corporate drudge only to find ourselves feeling empty, this for us was the "null and void" life. In fact for us it was so painful we left to discover our passion and to make a difference in the world. Our journey continues to unfold, and though frought with it's own challenges they are beautiful challenges to work through and overcome. We believe everyone is here for a reason and that each of deserves, as our birthright, to live a happy life that is "on purpose and with passion" We have learned a few lessons along the way and now it is time to share those with you so that you too may live your life on purpose and with passion. Join us on the passion wagon and let your journey begin. Don't worry you don't have to know the HOW of it, once you start to work on a life of meaning and your "WHY" the how will unfold divinely and we are here to hold your hand every step of the way. We are available for speaking events, one on one coaching and will be launching our online programs later this year. We look forward to sharing the journey with you.
